Jr. Support Engineer
TechPubs is seeking a Jr. Support Engineer to assist in software and database installation, configuration, QA, and test. Support Engineers are expected to do a variety of tasks in support of projects including: problem analysis, technical troubleshooting, development of fixes, bug tracking, and assistance in delivery of product for TechPubs customers. Candidate must be flexible, able to work well with a distributed team environment, posses good written and verbal communication skills, and be committed to customer satisfaction.
Required
- Good problem-solving, analytical, & reasoning skills
- Bachelors degree in CS, Engineering, or equivalent
- Understand and be proficient in Unix and Windows operating systems
- General understanding of database configuration
- Strong writing skills (e.g., concise and logical), organizational skills (multi-tasking and prioritization tasks), strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to learn new systems and tools quickly
- Good understanding of source management techniques and discipline, preferably with Subversion
- Self stater, willing to work with a distributed team
Preferred
- Understand software engineering skills and QA/Test and automation methodologies
- Understand and be proficient in Apache Tomcat server installation/maintenance
- General understanding of HTML, & XML tagged languages
- Understand and be proficient in LDAP configuration
- Knowledge of Java, Oracle and IBM WebSphere
- XSLT, XSL:FO experience
